Helen's 'River House' is a fantastic place to stay- on the edge of Rye but only 10minutes to the centre, you can wake up with the River Rother winding past, and sheep grazing beyond. The house is very warm and comfortable- we have had an extended stay here during January- with very comfy mattresses and the shower is good. There's a fabulous 1970's vibe to the house- the place has been done up with an amazing attention to detail, and Helen has clearly put a lot of love and thought into the project.

One of the best Airbnb’s I’ve stayed in. Super clean, super stylish with quirky touches. Packs a lotta personality.

About
our property

This warm and spacious 3-double bedroomed home is a tribute to Helen's love for the 70s era. Situated in peaceful surroundings, it is just a short stroll away from the historic town of Rye, which is surrounded by sandy beaches, vineyards, and countless attractions and events.

The property boasts outstanding river views and is only a 10-minute drive away from Camber Sands, a 3-mile stretch of sandy beach. The stunning sun-trap garden provides direct access to the river tow-path, while the property also has parking for up to 4 cars.

Featured in the Wealden Times, InsideKent, and most recently, on the BBC, this property has a lot to offer.

The ground floor features a well-appointed kitchen with a new washer/dryer, Neff double oven, fridge freezer, and small table and chairs, along with a Nespresso coffee machine. The large lounge/dining room includes a dining table for six guests, a comfortable leather sofa, and a smart TV, while patio doors lead to the gorgeous back garden. A small downstairs lavatory is also available.

On the first floor, guests will find 3 double bedrooms - Bedroom 1 is a large room with a king-size bed, free-standing wardrobe, and chest of drawers, along with a hairdryer and smart TV. It offers stunning river views. Bedroom 2 is a double room with a free-standing wardrobe and chest of drawers, and also has a hairdryer and smart TV, with river views. Bedroom 3 is a double room with a free-standing wardrobe and chest of drawers, along with a hairdryer and smart TV. The very large bathroom includes a double power-shower, "his and hers" vanity units with sinks.
The exterior of the property has a block-paved driveway that can accommodate up to four vehicles. The lovely long back garden offers space for dining and lounging, and there is direct access (via gate) to the tow-path and river Rother. Guests can enjoy a short walk along the river to the ancient town of Rye.

Guests will have access to the entire property, including the garden, and private gate access onto the public river tow-path. The property also has private parking at the front of the house.

Check-in time is after 3 pm, while check-out time is before 10 am. A £30 charge will be requested if guests check themselves in early without permission, or if guests do not check out on time, as this will cause disruption to the cleaner's schedule. Guests are also requested to be careful with the keys, as a £10 charge will be applied for lost keys.

Thank you for considering this property, and we hope you have a wonderful stay.

Your hosts

Hi I’m your host, Helen. I live a few minutes‘ drive from River House in a farmhouse in nearby Tenterden with my husband, four children and numerous cats and dogs.

We spend most weekends in Rye and the surrounding area, which has something for everyone. We love the fact that you can spend the morning at a gorgeous sandy beach, the afternoon visiting the eclectic mix of shops and art galleries, and the evening dining at one of Rye’s fabulous restaurants.

We fell in love with River House as soon as we saw it, and designing the 70s-inspired interiors has been an absolute joy. We think we have created a totally unique experience, and I hope you enjoy River House as much as we do!
